new building for the Electrical Grid Control Center
In conjunction with the celebrations of the 49th National Day of Oman, Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) - a member of Nama Group - inaugurated the new building for the Electrical Grid Control Center under the auspices of Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Al-Lawati, Chairman of Nama Group and in the presence of a group of officials and employees in the electricity sector in the Sultanate.
The inauguration casted light upon the key services offered by the new terminal, located at the airport heights near the company's head office.
The building has a range of facilities including a network control center that is equipped with a global system that joins together the electrical network system electronically under one roof.
The system helps the control engineers in managing the electrical network, remote supervision and control of power suppliers’ loads and the preparation of future studies to reduce loads and mitigate the energy loss as well as rapid response of the emergency teams with regard to the reconnection of the power supply in case of emergency power cut.
The building also has a communication center that uses an integrated communication system equipped with the state-of-the art technological solutions to achieve the highest communication standards between the communication center staff and various parties that benefit from the company's services, including subscribers, partners, contractors and developers around the clock, which is managed by a group of Omani qualified cadres.
The building also includes offices for staff, meeting rooms and theater for organizing training courses, development workshops and various lectures.
Through this center, Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) seeks to provide advanced and integrated electrical services to subscribers and develop the electricity sector with the latest available technologies.
