Signing the Contracts of Meter reading and Bill Distribution of electricity and water services

As per of the framework of cooperation and collaboration between MEDC and Public Authority for Electricity and Water in the field of developing and improving the services provided in Muscat Governorate with regards to the Meter Reading and Bills Distribution for electricity and water customers. 
The contracts of meter reading and bills distribution has been signed yesterday morning in Muscat Intercontinental Hotel with companies specialized in this filed. The event was under the patronage of HE Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, president of the General Authority for Electricity and Water accompanied with the presence of a group of officials from the Authority and relevant  companies .
The strategy of changing the business module in the area of meter reading and bills distribution comes after a hard work of study and preparations which last for two years by building the required monetary standards, advanced systems and human resource capabilities within the company. 

The signing of these contracts was to develop and improve the services offered by Muscat Electricity Distribution company -Member of Nama Group -  in Muscat governorate.

 
Engineer Abdullah bin Saeed al-Badri, the CEO of Muscat Electricity Distribution Co. said that "the company for the first time has awarded three contracts of meter reading and bills distribution for three contractors according to the operational zones in Muscat. While in the past years, it had been assigned to a single service provider only. Therefore, this new procedure gives an opportunity to specialized locals and overseas companies to compete in providing the best services for both MEDC and our valued customers."


Also, he stated that "the strategy of changing the business module in the area of meter reading and bill distribution comes after a hard work of study and preparations which last for two years by building the required monetary standards, Advanced Systems and human resource capabilities within the company."
He added that "the total amount of these contracts is about 15 million OMR ,which last for four years, starting from January,1st 2017." 
  
He furtherly mentioned that "first contract was signed with Al Taawoos Industrial Services which will serve the subscribers of operational zone-1 that includes Muttrah, Muscat, Al Amerat and Qurayat. The second contract was signed with National Electricity Center and it will serve the customers of operational zone-2 of Willayat Bausher. The third contract was signed with Oman Investment and Finance company  and will serve the subscribers of  operational zone-3 of Willayat Al -Seeb."  

He concluded that "these programs and projects which are implemented by MEDC comes under a comprehensive development program for the customer services for all customers in Muscat Governorate." 

It is worth to mention that Muscat Electricity Distribution Co. - Member of Nama Group- is responsible for supplying and distributing electricity in Muscat governorate through constructing of substations and extending lines all over the area, as well as investing in human resources and other required systems. Additionally, it is owning the highly efficient distribution system. All this in order to ensure sustain the electricity service for its subscribers.
