Nama Group Inaugurates Knowledge Sharing Conference 2016

Nama Group held the inauguration ceremony for Knowledge Sharing Conference 2016 (KSC16) on Tuesday, 12 April 2016, under the auspices of HE Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning, at the Grand Hyatt Muscat Hotel. The Conference was designed and implemented for the first time in 2013 to provide a platform for all electricity sector stakeholders to discuss the latest developments and best practices that have contributed in the implementation of the Nama Group’s strategy which consists of: Human Resources, Asset Management, Customer Service, Communication and Health, Safety and Environment.

The KSC16 will be implemented as the first virtual conference in Oman by adopting a number of digital channels to attract and engage all of the employees of Nama Group. The concept of this year’s conference is the result of a digital communication project implemented by all subsidiaries in 2015, and fits very well with the Group’s efforts to optimise resources.

Eng. Omar Khalfan Al Wahaibi, CEO of Nama Group, stated that: “The conference papers have been developed around our own experiences in implementing Nama Group strategies. This year’s conference will enable us to focus on delivering benefits and embedding the change across all our subsidiaries.”

The ceremony also covered the launch of the first sustainability report which was prepared according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. The report measures the sustainability performance of all Nama Group companies for 2014-15 period.


The year 2015 was filled with achievements for Nama Group in delivering its strategic objectives and realising benefits. To recognize the performance of its subsidiaries, Nama Holding organised a Group Competition which covers Human Resource (HR), Customer Services, Asset Management (AM), and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE).

HSE Strategy: it aims at implementing an effective Health & Safety Management System as assessed by Nama Holding and Authority of Electricity Regulation’s (AER) audits. The criteria of choosing the best company depends on AER’s audit ranking and receiving an excellent audit report with no Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) in the year.

The winner of the HSE Category is Oman Electricity Transmission Company and the most improved is Majan Electricity Company.

HR Strategy: it aims at recognizing HR Excellence within our Group companies against identified KPI (indicators) which provide a view on the level of implementation of People Capability Maturity Model Level 2 that include; the recruitment process, training budget utilised, work environment and performance management.

The winner of the HR Category is Muscat Electricity Distribution Company.

AM Strategy: it aims at measuring the maturity of the Group companies in implementing the ISO 55001 Standard for AM. The Group carried out an independent assessment to measure 27 elements that reflect the AM maturity during the pre-certification audit that took place in November 2015. 

The winner of the AM Category is Majan Electricity Company and the most improved is Dhofar Power Company


Customer Service Strategy: it aims at providing the best services for our customers. The criteria of choosing the best company depends on elements including New Connection Time, Call Center Service Level, Meter Reading, Billing Process and Customer Satisfaction Survey.

The winners is Rural Areas Electricity Company and the most improved is Dhofar Power Company.
