MEDC Holds 5th Technical Seminar

Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) - a member of the Nama Group - held its fifth technical seminar in the presence of Eng. Ala bin Hassan bin Musa Al-Lawati, Acting CEO and Company officials.

The seminar discussed a number of different technical working papers that discussed a series of topics related to the electricity networks in Muscat Governorate such as the future needs of the projects from the perspective of planning and requirements of the solar system that were approved recently.

The Seminar also discussed the control room work paper that studied the network stability. The work paper presented the current and future projects as well as the challenges facing them and the study that aims at reducing the expenditure on the key projects being implemented. The Geographic Information System (GIS) paper discussed how to use the information systems data in the management of disconnection, assets and electricity network distribution as well as the subscribers' services. After that, the seminar discussed two working papers about load connection, how to deal with the submitted applications, maintenance and its types and the significance of asset maintenance. The asset department paper tackled the matter of power quality, electricity assets tampering and how to mitigate the effect of this phenomenon.

In addition to the Cost Reflective Tariff (CRT) paper and its impact on the loads. This paper reviewed the preliminary results and their impact on the general electricity consumption in Muscat network.

It is worth mentioning that Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) organizes this seminar to exchange views and benefit from the company's existing expertise for the sake of developing the electricity network and finding out solutions to the challenges.
