Muscat Electricity Distribution Company follows its health and safety plans
Muscat Electricity Distribution Company - a member of the Nama Group - represented by the Department of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) - held its periodic meetings for health and safety in the operational areas to discuss the lessons learned from the accidents that the electricity sector had during 2018, as well as to follow up the HSE plan for this year with the departments in the company.
Moreover, HSSE Department also continued carrying out its field visits to the on-going projects to keep up to date on the progress of the work and the extent to which it conforms to HSE requirements. During the first half of this year, the Chief Executive and HSSE Senior Director conducted four visits to projects sites.
This comes in line with the commitments of HSSE policy to achieve a safe and accident-free working environment, and to raise awareness of the importance of safety precautions in daily operational activities.
Dr. Juma bin Said Al Obaidani, Director of Health, Safety and Environment at Muscat Electricity Distribution Company said that the company is carrying out awareness campaigns for contractors and employees regarding works carried out in highlands and lifting operations with heavy equipment. The campaigns also addressed the dangers of sabotage and manipulation of the electrical network. The company also carried out awareness campaigns in various social media for citizens and residents regarding the dangers of illegal electrical connections that are not authorized by the company.
