Muscat Electricity Distribution Company celebrates its 12th anniversary
Muscat Electricity Distribution Company - a member of the Nama Group – has completed 12 years since its establishment, which was on May 1, 2005, it is the only company responsible for the electricity distribution in Muscat Governorate after restructuring electricity sector based on the Royal Decree No. 78/2004.
During the past years, the company has recorded many achievements in the field, where the company sought to achieve leadership in the electricity sector and to provide the best services to subscribers.
The company has adopted within Nama Group a strategy focused in five-pillars, which are customer services, human resources, asset management, health, safety and environment and communication.
In the pillar of human resources, it has succeeded in maintaining higher levels of Omanization that reached to 92% by the end of 2016. Furthermore, the company provided an average of 32.2 hours of development to a workforce of 493 employees in 2016.
In the area of customer services, customers base has reached 336,523 by the end of 2016 and many projects were running for boosting the customer services and satisfaction.
In order to meet the growing demand for electricity, the company is implementing a number of projects aimed at enhancing and expanding the performance of the electricity network. In addition, the company achieved ISO 55001 of asset management in May 2016, confirming the best practices and procedures established in the field of asset management.
The company also is paying attention to HSE through the implementation of on-the-job training courses that aims to improving the culture of safety among company's employees and contractors. In this regard the company has completed 2975200 hours without accidents or lost time injury.
In the communication aspect, it strengthened the channels of communication through its presence in various social media channels. The company continued to implement the programs of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Ministry of Education to spread awareness of energy safety, efficiency & saving among school children through conducting lectures and other events.
